Hawke's Bay Region, New Zealand

Three Year fixed term (0.6 FTE) / 24 hours per week

About the Role

Outline:
As a network of churches, the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu believes that reaching the next generation with the good news of Jesus Christ is central to the call of the church. As we align ourselves structurally to achieve this vision, we are seeking to appoint a part time Children and Families Pastor who will have responsibility for implementing the Koru Ministry strategic development plan, and for calling and developing volunteer teams in the churches and congregations of the region.

Our Philosophy:
We approach Children and Families Ministry through the metaphor of the harakeke. This is an inclusive approach that acknowledges the importance of each generation in the development of faith and life within our young people and their families. We also recognise that God calls us to bring families into the community of faith through experiences of worship, gathering and whanaungatanga. This kaupapa is centred on three steps. The first is that our ministry and mission is one that endears. Wherever Jesus went, people felt seen, heard and loved - we believe people should feel the same when they encounter us. The second is that ours is a mission that engages. We believe God wants people to grow, not only in understanding but in who they are called to become. Finally, we want to empower through the calling forward of gifts, life and vision as another generation is fostered for work within God's kingdom.

Responsibilities:
The Southern Regional Children and Families Pastor will be responsible for the activation and oversight of ministry to children and families in the archdeaconries of Hawkes Bay Cities and Hawkes Bay Coasts.

About the Company

From its origins among indigenous missionaries proclaiming the faith to their whanau and iwi, the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu has sought to be a community that has a faith giving life. We believe God continues to call us into this through a particular focus on discipleship, next gen mission, an elevation of our whakapapa, renewal of vocation and greater whanaungatanga in our shared life. The Regional Children and Families Pastor roles are intended to drive our Kaupapa around next generation mission.
