About the Company
The Anglican Diocese of Waiapu has twenty-five parishes, and a range of social services, covering three regions and some thirty-nine thousand square kilometres of the eastern and central North Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Named for the Waiapu River that flows, we believe our history and future as a diocese is centred on carrying the gospel into the lives of communities we serve, to bring flourishing and fullness of life. As a diocese we wish to be a people characterised by aroha (love), rongo (peace) and hari (joy).
In all that it offers, Waiapu stands for a church that is welcoming and inclusive of all, open, broad-based and ecumenical in its understanding of the Christian faith, committed to a ministry of all the baptized and committed to Tikanga Rua, a relationship with Māori built on justice and mutual respect.
We collaborate closely with Te Pīhopatanga o Aotearoa, and Anglican Care Waiapu, to ensure our direction and strategy reflects the needs of people, their communities, and Te Tiriti commitments.
The parishes and social services serve provincial cities and small rural settlements, providing ministry through a variety of forms: vicar-led parishes and local team ministries, hospital chaplaincies, schools, youth projects and social service agencies ranging from early childhood centres to day care centres for the elderly.
