The Anglican Canons - Our Guiding Principles

The Diocese of Waiapu is governed by a set of guiding principles known as Canons. These are the rules by which we live together as Anglicans, they are the yardstick by which our common life is judged.

Safeguarding

You may have heard the term “safeguarding” being used within the church community. The Diocese of Waiapu has a responsibility as a loving Christian community to ensure the safety and promote the wellbeing of children, young people and adults. â€‹To ensure that everyone understands what is required of them, a number of policies and procedures have been developed to help us navigate this not only difficult, but daunting aspect of our life in the church.

As well as policies and procedures, training is required for clergy, wardens, vestry/parish council, employees and volunteers.

If you want to find out more about safeguarding training or have any safeguarding concerns, please contact Penny Hales, Safeguarding and Risk Manager, Diocese of Waiapu on phone 021 240 3402 or email penny.hales@waiapu.com.
