Strategy Update: Archdeaconry & Ministry Education

Written by Graeme Brock

As part of our outworking of the Diocesan strategic plan, we are making key changes to strengthen our leadership and resourcing across the Diocese.

Archdeacon Appointments:

The Rev'd Peter Bargh has been appointed as Archdeacon for Tauranga City and Coast, and the Rev'd Alan Burnett has been appointed as Archdeacon for Hawke's Bay. Both will play vital roles in supporting clergy and parishes in their respective regions and fostering connection and collaboration.

For parishes not covered by an Archdeacon, the Bishop or one of his appointed representatives will directly provide pastoral care and support. This ensures all our communities remain well-supported in ministry and mission as we continue to grow together.

Taradale Pilot Resourcing Parish:

Taradale will pilot a resourcing parish model, exploring how a strong parish can relationally support other local parishes in ministry and mission. This initiative reflects our vision for mutual support and sustainable ministry across the Diocese.

Ministry Education Adjustments:

The Rev'd Dr Deborah Broome will now serve 0.50 in Ministry Education, 0.25 in CHB Parish, and 0.25 at the Cathedral.

The Rev'd Alan Burnett will pick up 0.5 in Ministry Education, complementing his new Archdeacon role and outworking some of this portfolio through the Resourcing Church Model.

These adjustments align with our Strategic Plan, allowing us to reposition for the future with greater flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of our Diocese.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers as we outwork Faith Giving Life in our Diocese.
