The following motion was passed at Synod in October 2024:
“ADVOCACY FOR THE VULNERABLE IN AOTEAROA/ NEW ZEALAND"
Motion:
"That this Synod uses its voice ensure that the most vulnerable in our society have an advocate through the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu. That we use our voice to speak out about legislation and policies that impact on the vulnerable such as health, housing, social security, violence and abuse.”
I have been asked to action this motion and am seeking interested individuals to join a focused group committed to ensuring the voice of Waiapu is heard when legislation or policies affect the vulnerable in Aotearoa New Zealand.
I anticipate forming a small group of people who will meet regularly to discuss relevant topics and produce reports or articles that puts across our voice in support of the vulnerable. This group will rely on contributions from others within the church to put forward topics for discussion and action, ensuring everyone can participation the process.
Please email if you would be interested in participating in this project.
